Explore on a soul-enriching 10-day journey through the heart of Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon, with Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions. This extended tour is designed to offer a deeper, more immersive experience across the country’s cultural and spiritual heartlands. Beginning in Paro, you’ll visit the renowned Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), suspended dramatically on a cliff face, and explore the ancient Paro Rinpung Dzong and National Museum, giving you a rich introduction to Bhutanese heritage.

Next, travel to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, where tradition and modernity coexist. You'll visit the Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, and explore the local craft markets, giving you insight into the daily life of Bhutanese people. Continuing east, the road leads to Punakha, a lush valley known for the magnificent Punakha Dzong, built at the confluence of two rivers. Here, you’ll enjoy scenic hikes, such as the one to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman.

From Punakha, the journey becomes even more scenic and profound as you travel to Trongsa, a town of historical importance. The Trongsa Dzong, one of the most architecturally impressive fortresses in Bhutan, played a critical role in the unification of the country. A visit to the Trongsa Museum, housed in the ancient watchtower, reveals more about Bhutan’s royal legacy.

Then it’s on to Jakar, the gateway to the spiritual Bumthang Valley—often called the "Switzerland of Bhutan" for its green meadows and gentle hills. This region is the cultural heart of Bhutan, home to some of its oldest temples and monasteries such as Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, and Tamshing Monastery. You’ll explore sacred sites, meet local artisans, and witness age-old traditions still alive in the valleys.

After your enriching journey through central Bhutan, the tour loops back toward Paro, with opportunities for final shopping, local food experiences, or a relaxing hot stone bath to unwind before departure. Throughout the trip, you’ll be guided by expert local guides, stay in comfortable accommodations, and travel at a relaxed pace that lets you fully absorb the magic of Bhutan.

Best Time for Explore Bhutan Tour
The ideal time to explore on the Explore Bhutan Tour—which includes destinations such as Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Trongsa, Jakar, and the Bumthang Valley—is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer the most comfortable weather, clear mountain views, and vibrant cultural experiences, especially important for a tour that covers both western and central Bhutan.

Spring (March to May):
Spring is one of the best times to explore Bhutan’s natural beauty. The valleys bloom with rhododendrons, magnolias, and other wildflowers, particularly in Bumthang and Dochula Pass areas. The weather is mild, with daytime temperatures ranging between 15°C to 25°C in most regions. This season is perfect for scenic hikes, photography, and enjoying Bhutan’s pristine landscapes in full color. It's also festival season—many local tsechus (masked dance festivals) take place during spring, adding a rich cultural flavor to your journey.

Autumn (September to November):
Autumn is equally ideal, marked by clear skies, crisp air, and magnificent views of the Himalayan peaks, especially from high passes like Dochula and Chele La. The forests are lush after the summer rains, and the rice fields in Punakha and Trongsa turn golden—making this a visually stunning time to travel. Major festivals like the Thimphu Tsechu and Jambay Lhakhang Drup in Bumthang are held during this period, providing a unique chance to witness traditional Bhutanese culture at its best.

Whether you’re interested in spirituality, culture, nature, or photography, spring and autumn are the best seasons to experience the full beauty and depth of the 10-day Explore Bhutan Tour. At Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions, we help you plan your trip during these optimal months to ensure you enjoy every aspect of this magical Himalayan kingdom.
