Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by the team from Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions. Our representative will transfer you to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Spend the rest of the day resting or exploring the vibrant city on your own. Kathmandu’s bustling streets, ancient temples, and lively markets offer a glimpse of Nepal’s rich culture. In the evening, enjoy a briefing session where the trekking team will discuss the itinerary, prepare permits, and answer any questions you might have about the journey ahead.
Today is dedicated to final trek preparations in Kathmandu. You will have the opportunity to arrange any last-minute gear, purchase supplies, and secure permits with our team’s assistance. After breakfast, enjoy a brief cultural tour or relax at your hotel. In the afternoon, take a short domestic flight to Nepalgunj, a gateway to the western region of Nepal. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel, rest, and prepare for the early morning flight to Jumla. The team will provide a final briefing to ensure all logistics are clear for the adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, board a scenic flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla, a remote town known for its unique culture and landscapes. From Jumla, begin your trek heading uphill through terraced fields and charming villages, immersing yourself in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. The trail gradually ascends to Chauriya Chaur, a beautiful meadow offering stunning views of the snow-capped peaks surrounding the area. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the tranquility of this less-traveled path as you acclimatize and prepare for the days ahead.
Today’s trek is one of the more challenging yet rewarding parts of the journey as you cross the high Jaljala Pass. The trail ascends steadily through alpine forests and wild rhododendron groves, revealing panoramic vistas of the Himalayan range. At the pass, pause to take in breathtaking views of the rugged terrain below and distant peaks. After the descent, reach the village of Bota where the warm hospitality of local villagers will offer a comforting rest. The day’s effort is richly rewarded by the pristine mountain environment.
Descending from the pass, your route takes you alongside the flowing waters of the Sinja Khola river. This part of the trek weaves through traditional villages, where ancient customs are still observed. The trail is filled with terraced farms, stone houses, and vibrant local life, giving trekkers an authentic glimpse into rural Nepalese culture. As you approach Bota, the landscape transitions to lush greenery and gentle hills. The peaceful surroundings and friendly villagers make this a memorable segment of the trek.
From Bota, the trail climbs steadily towards Ghorasinga, a quiet village situated close to the famed Rara Lake. The route passes through forests of pine and fir, and you may spot various birds and wildlife. This day is crucial for acclimatization as you gain altitude and approach the unique ecosystem of Rara National Park. On arrival in Ghorasinga, enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and valleys below, and prepare for the final approach to the lake tomorrow. The peaceful atmosphere is perfect for reflecting on the journey so far.
Today, you reach the highlight of the trek — the stunning Rara Lake, Nepal’s largest freshwater lake, often called the "Pearl of Nepal." The trail descends gently into the Rara National Park, surrounded by pristine forests and snow-capped peaks. The lake’s crystal-clear blue waters and serene surroundings offer incredible photo opportunities and moments of peace. Spend time walking along the lake’s edge, soaking in the tranquil beauty and perhaps encountering the unique flora and fauna endemic to this remote area.
Enjoy a well-deserved rest day at Rara Lake. Use this time to explore the lakeshore, take short hikes to viewpoints, or visit nearby villages to experience local culture. The area is rich in biodiversity, so you may spot rare bird species or animals such as musk deer. Relax in the peaceful natural setting, meditate, or simply take in the breathtaking vistas of the lake and surrounding mountains. This day offers an excellent opportunity to recharge both physically and mentally before beginning the return trek.
Today you start descending from the lake, trekking through dense forests and terraced farmland toward Talcha village. The trail meanders through peaceful landscapes dotted with small farms and traditional homes. The air is crisp and fresh, and the village welcomes you with warm hospitality. Talcha is a serene place to spend the night, giving you a glimpse of everyday rural life in this remote part of Nepal. Enjoy the calm atmosphere and reflect on the scenic trek’s rewarding experiences.
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the nearest airstrip for your flight back to Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj, board your connecting flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions will transfer you to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy modern comforts after days in the wilderness. Use the evening to explore Kathmandu’s lively streets or enjoy a celebratory dinner with your trekking team, sharing stories and memories of the incredible journey to Rara Lake.
