The trail continues through terraced hills and lush forests to Sarangkot, a famous viewpoint above Pokhara known for its sweeping sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

What makes this trek special is the accessibility and diversity it offers in a compact itinerary. From scenic mountain panoramas to quiet rural trails and vibrant sunsets over Phewa Lake, the Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek captures the essence of trekking in Nepal without venturing too deep into the high Himalayas. It’s the perfect introduction to Nepal’s natural beauty and hospitality, with gentle walking hours and breathtaking rewards each day.

Best Time for Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek
The best seasons to do the Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek are autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). These months offer the most favorable weather conditions—clear skies, mild temperatures, and vibrant landscapes. In autumn, the air is crisp and visibility is at its peak, making it ideal for viewing the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Lamjung Himal from both Dhampus and Sarangkot.

Spring, on the other hand, brings warmer temperatures and blooming rhododendrons along the trails. This is also an excellent time to witness local festivals and farming activities in the villages. While winter (December to February) is also suitable due to the low elevation of the trek, early mornings can be cold. The summer monsoon (June to August) is generally not recommended due to rain, slippery trails, and limited mountain visibility.

Dhampus and Sarangkot Trekking Difficulty Level
The Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek is rated as easy to moderate, making it an excellent choice for first-time trekkers, families, and older travelers. The maximum altitude is around 1,650 meters at Dhampus, which eliminates any concern about altitude sickness. Daily trekking involves 3–5 hours of walking on well-established trails that wind through forests, ridgelines, and terraced farmland.

There are some uphill sections, especially from Phedi to Dhampus, but they are manageable with a basic level of fitness. Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions ensures the trek is paced appropriately, allowing time for rest and enjoyment along the way. As the route descends into Pokhara on the final day, the trail offers a pleasant downhill walk with stunning views of the Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake.

Food and Accommodation for Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek
Accommodation during the Dhampus and Sarangkot Trek is in comfortable tea houses or local guesthouses. Rooms are typically twin-sharing with basic amenities, clean bedding, and shared bathrooms. While not luxurious, these lodges are warm, welcoming, and provide a genuine experience of Nepali hospitality. In Pokhara and Kathmandu, Hidden Path Treks & Expeditions arranges stays in quality hotels with modern facilities.

Meals on the trail include a mix of local Nepali cuisine and popular international dishes. Expect hearty portions of dal bhat, noodles, soups, pancakes, and Tibetan bread. Tea and coffee are always available, especially during sunrise viewing moments. The company ensures all food is hygienic and nourishing, with vegetarian and dietary-friendly options on request.
